So many times my view of myself gets clouded

Then I realize it is me that is playing hide-and-seek with you

There are many times I am drawn to the things of this world
I know now that those things will only leave me wanting something more
I’ve tried to ignore the voice that is calling me away from this world
I realize now that the things of this world will only leave me with a void

Away from this world is what I hear you calling me to
Away from this world and its temporary pleasure
Away from this world you will find true peace
Away from this world you will find eternal joy

There are times when I try to grab what this world claims to offer
There are times when I realize that this heart of mine needs something more
There are other times when I think that I have it all together
And other instances where I choose to run back to the ways of this world

Away from this world is where my hope is found
Away from this world is where my heart is
Away from this world’s mentality, you have to come out on top
Away from this world’s false sense of security

There are times when I get tired
There are times when I am set on one thing letting nothing stop me
Then I get so busy that I have no time to listen
There are times when all I hear are incomprehenible noise

I ran away from you, and turned to other things

Don’t think you’re chasing him away
Don’t think that he doesn’t love you
Don’t think that anything can happen to separate you from him

Don’t you know how much you’ve hurt me

You should know that God still loves you
You should know that God will take you back
You should know that God put others first
You should know that God will never leave you or forsake you

You don’t care how your selfish actions have blinded you from truth
You don’t care how the knife you stabbed me with; your words stuck in me deep
You don’t care about how this story ends
You don’t care about the way it was poorly written

There are a lot of times that I have wanted it to end peacefully between us
There are a lot of times that I wish you didn’t hurt me; the damage has been done
There are times when I thought; how could you be so naive to what you were doing
Time after time you have been a big obstacle for my healing

You don’t know how much our words matter
You have no idea what you’ve crushed inside
You have no recollection of our conversations
You have no memory of your past

So many times I forget the meaning of the cross
To gather the sheep that were once considered lost
I mess up every day, and a lot of times I tend to shy away
From your open arms outstretched to embrace me

You tell me to come to the cross,
I stand in awe of your sacrifice for me
When will I decide to come back
You’ll still be waiting longing for me to come back home

I saw an image on Calvary’s tree on that night
I saw my heart being made new
I saw my heart being ransomed
I felt my heart had been set free

I tried to see the meaning
I tried so hard to live this life on my own
I tried to say I didn’t need you
You welcomed me into your arms outstretched

At the cross I find peace
