• Be still

Be still my child and let me fight for you
Be still my dear one and let me do the talking
Be still my son and let me take care of it
Be still my daughter and let me protect you

When you feel you can’t stand anymore
When you feel you can’t handle this life on your own
When you feel weak; it is then you can be still
When you feel far away; be still for I will fight for you

I know you’re pressured to move from one thing to the next
I know you’re anxious to get through life at a very rapid pace
I know you’re trying to find me in all the wrong places
I know you’re trying to hide from me; but I will never leave you

14 The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
    Exodus 14:14 (NIV)

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
    Philippians 4:6 (NIV)

Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near.
    Isaiah 55:6 (NIV)

10 even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light become night around me,”
    12 even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you.
    Psalms 139:10-12 (NIV)

  • You died

Upon the cross looking at the very ones that said that we wanted you crucified
Upon the cross pleading for the Father to forgive them, for they know not what they do
You found yourself nailed between two thieves; even though you did nothing
Hard for me to realize that the gift of life is offered to me through your death

For everything that I’m afraid others will find out; you died
For the secrets of my past; you died
The darkness of my heart; you died so you could show us light
For my heart on Calvary was ransomed; you died in my place
The thoughts that haunt me; you died to break me free
I was lost; you died so you could find me

You took the pain for my mistakes; all my broken dreams
You took the beating; so you could bring me healing
You conquered death so that I may see what it means to live
Your blood paid the price for my soul

There are so many things we try to keep hidden; help us remember the freedom there is
Held captive to my own selfish desires no more; the cross the resurrection has bought me
Everything about me that I wish was different; you gently remind that you died for me just as I am
With tears rolling down my face; you extended your hand to give me grace
The scars of my Savior bring my soul healing; bring me new life

8But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us [Romans 5:8] (NIV)

  • Come to me

There are times when I get tired
There are times when I am set on one thing letting nothing stop me
Then I get so busy that I have no time to listen
There are times when all I hear are incomprehenible noise

Come to me; you who are weary
Come to me; you will find rest
Come to me with your heartache
Come to me with your sorrows

I ran away from you, and turned to other things
Open my ears so that I may hear you telling me to come
Open my eyes so that I may see that you are good
You will be my fortress in times of trouble

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
    Matthew 11:28

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
    Psalm 34:18

We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
    Isaiah 53:6

Then the eyes of those who see will no longer be closed, and the ears of those who hear will listen.
    Isaiah 32:3

Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.
    Psalm 34:8

The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
    Psalm 18:2

  • You hold everything together

You hold everything together within your hand
You hold every part of the universe within your palm
You allow us to see things so we may better understand you
You allow us to see things that have yet to be, through eyes of faith

So many things are yet to be discovered
So many mysteries are yet to be uncovered
So many different sides of creation
So many different sides of the spectrum

Sometimes I wonder out loud sometimes to myself
Is there really a plan for my life
There are times that I like Thomas doubt your words to me
You always take me right back to the holes in your hands

I have tasted and seen that you are good
I will rest in the peace that passes all understanding
You hold my heart; and keep it from coming undone
You hold my life and restore it from a broken state

Inspired by Louie Giglio’s Talk about a protein Molecule called Laminin

He is before all things, and in him all things hold together
    Colossians 1:17

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
    Romans 1:20

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
    Hebrews 11:1

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
    Jeremiah 29:11

Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”
    John 20:27

Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.
    Psalm 34:8

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
    Philippians 4:7

  • I know when

I know that you’re feelin’ lonely
I know that you’re feelin’ down
I know that you’re feelin’ distant
I know that you’re fallin’ apart

I will never forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:8)
You will rise up on Eagle’s wings (Isaiah 40:31)
Draw near to me, and I will draw near to you (Hebrews 10:22)
I am close to the broken hearted (Psalm 34:18)

    I know that you’re hurtin’
    I know that you’re weak
    I know that you’re cryin’
    I know that you’re searchin’

I will bind up your wounds (Psalm 147:3)
I will defend the cause of the weak (Psalm 82:3)
I will hear your cry (2 Samuel 22:7)
You will find me if you search for me (Isaiah 55:6)

    I know you’ve felt abandoned
    I know you’ve doubted
I know you’ve lived life as a captive
    I know you’ve experienced pain

Father why have you forsaken me (Matthew 27:46)
Stop doubting and just believe in me (John 20:27)
He has come to set the captives free (Isaiah 42:6-8)
The joy of the Lord is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10)

  • A bruised reed

    I’m fallin’ apart
This life is hangin’ by a thread
    Tryin’ to comprehend the reason
    For your promises to me

    You will not hurt me
    You will sustain me
You will be there for me
    You will carry me through

Do you not know there is a God who loves you
Do you not know there is a God who cares for you
There are people who try to tell you don’t matter
And there are people who try to take away everything you live for

Some of us are like bruised reeds
    Some of us smoldering wicks
Some of us are fighting to stay afloat
Some of us are flickerin’ like light in the distance

    Matthew 12:20
A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not quench, until he brings justice to victory.

  • Lamb

Carry me in your arms Daddy
I don’t mean to stray away from the one who loves me
Keep me in your pasture, grazing upon the words of life
Like a sheep, hold me so that I may hear your heart beating

I feel like I’ve known the way to life but I keep dabbling in sorrow
I feel like I’ve been hurt beyond repair, because my heart has broken
Struggling to keep my head up and looking into my Savior’s eyes
Feeling the warmth that comes from you whisperin’ I’ve finally found you

Layin’ on my back with my hands outstretched toward you
Feelin’ my way through the bitter cold, knowin’ with each breath I am one step closer
Telling you how I feel is probably the best because I know you’ll understand
I don’t see how you could take all my sin upon you on the cross

Sometimes I don’t know where to turn because I’ve used the clouds to cover my eyes
Thinkin’ I was protecting myself by hiding from the rays of the sun
Then I realized that your light kept shining through, and you wouldn’t go away
I want to rest in your peace, as you hold me gently in your arms

The shepherd will carry me close when I feel I need to run away
He will find me when I stray away
He will welcome me with His words of love toward me
I just wanna look at the stars and see His face, and let my soul feel His glory.

11 He tends his flock like a shepherd:
He gathers the lambs in his arms
    and carries them close to his heart;
he gently leads those that have young.

    Isaiah 40:11 (New International Version)

6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
    each of us has turned to his own way;
and the LORD has laid on him
    the iniquity of us all.

    Isaiah 53:6 (New International Version)

  • Near to me

I keep running away because I feel so unworthy
But I want to learn to draw near to you because I know when I seek you I will find you
I want to hold your hand as you lift my head
I know I shouldn’t fear because God is my portion
I want to experience the love that you have given me

I want to share that love with others
As you told us to pick up our cross and follow you
    That night on Calvary
You took three nails to be with me
I still don’t understand it but I will hold your hand

There are many things that I want to give you
It seems like there is always more
I can’t seem to trust you to hold
I didn’t want to keep anything back from you
But I realize I do it everyday.

8Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. James 4:8

  • Find me

You tell me that if you seek me…you will find me…
but so many times…we look in the wrong places…
only to find you calling out our names…so many times we get weary…
You want my entire heart…you tell me to seek you with all my heart…

Seek my face…and you will find me…
I need your heart…and I’ll make myself visible before you…
    I will hem you in…before and after…
Just because you can’t see me right now…I have found you…

    I can see you…between your money tears…
    I can heal you…of your many hurts…
I want to hold you…and hold you in my hand…
My heart beats for you my child…I hold your heart in mine…

There are many times…when there are things…
that seem to come between us…and there are many times I find you…
I have looked for you my child…and you have found me…
You have been in my sight all along…You are safe with me…

    Dedicated to Keturah Leigh Shipman

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
    Jeremiah 29:13

  • As for me

    Dedicated to Karen Tuttle.

    Based on Psalm 73:28
But as for me, it is good to be near God.
    I have made the Sovereign LORD my refuge;
I will tell of all your deeds.

    Proverbs 17:17
A friend loves at all times,
and a brother is born for adversity.

So many times I want to go with the flow, regardless of my past or which way the wind blows
There are situations in our lives, that leave us questioning the reason that we are here
I rest in the promises that Jesus is always near
Can I even begin to explain, the affects of the culture on my life
Another trying time, cutting like a knife
There are many things that I can try to hide behind
But in the end, my Sovereign Lord will be all I truly find
There are many needs in the world today
There are many things that draw me away, distract me and make me turn the other way
I long to be new, I long to be true, I long to worship you in all I do.
Many obstacles that I thought would make me a better person,
In the end only leading me further down the road to sin
A friend loves at all times, and I can see Proverbs 17:17 in your life is coming alive
When I was wounded you have held my hand, when I felt my life was doing a nosedive
Hard to imagine where I would be,
If you had not spoken words of truth to me
A mentor to help me through
    Reminding me what is true
I just wanted to write these words of love
to show you how blessed I am to have you sent from above.
There are things that I share
Because I know that you care
A Godly woman to speak truth in my heart,
Moving to Indy, providing a brand new start.
A time to grow, and a time to know
A time to reap whatever you sow.
Living life is never easy, but neither is walking alone by yourself
So you decided to help me, and told me to get my Bible off the shelf.
We listen to others, and are interested in other’s lives
We both serve a Savior who always forgives.
