New to me

I am getting older now, but I am learning to be real
This opportunity to express how I really feel it feels new to me
There were times that I thought no one else could ever understand
These emotions that I am learning to feel are new to me

My heart was hurting and my soul was getting numb
I didn’t want to accept the fact that things were the way they are
New to me, doesn’t mean that it’s bad for me
New to me, doesn’t mean that I’m falling behind

New to me are the opportunities to start fresh
There are still times that I am scared to share my love for you
Hard to admit that there are better days ahead of me
Trying to look ahead and not looking at what was

I’ve got a new team now, one that will help me heal
I’ve got a new repertoire of coping skills now available to me
It’s all so new to me but I want to learn to love again
It seems that I want to heal but it’s going to be a hard fought journey
