Hold on tight

Written for my submission to the Kingdom Music Academy

I didn’t know what love was until I breathed for the first time
I didn’t know what love would feel like when I felt all alone
Hold on tight, don’t look back holding tight to love
I heard my Jesus, tell me ever so gently I’ll give you the love you’re looking for

Hold on tight, my love is what the Savior told me
Hold on tight, to the promise of new life
Hold on tight, to the dreams that you have in your heart
Hold on tight, I’ll never let you go is what my Jesus told me

Would I recognize you if you came to the door
Would I stop and listen, like you listen for my voice dear child
Hold tight to love, it will never let you go
Hold on tight the road will be long and I hear my Savior tell me that He made me strong

Do I bring anything to the party that my Savior has, when someone comes home
Love told me that I mattered and was happy that I was here
Love told me that day, that there are times it tried to mend me but I couldn’t accept it
Love told me that I am precious, but then I saw that love was an action not just emotion

Hold on tight to the promises, that you can find by spending time with me He continued
Hold on tight to the words, and remember the reason that I wrote them was you my love
Hold on tight to the love, a love that will never let you go
Hold on tight to the love, reaching out it’s hand to save my soul from drowning.
