Share my story

I have heard before that I have a story to tell
I have heard before that someone could relate
I have heard before that there was someone who could understand
I have heard before that I was never alone

My story started kind of scary for my parents
You see I had a condition called hydrocephalus and it was affecting my vision
I didn’t eat the way you would expect a baby to
I didn’t know that I would have five surgeries before I turned one

With my sight restored and my life forever different
With my family taking time to get me the help I needed
With my schooling and helping me with the obstacles that came up
With my head throbbing, I couldn’t even imagine something different

In college the headaches came back
I didn’t know what was happening, because I didn’t know if surgery could fix it again
I didn’t want to get my hopes up, because I wasn’t sure what my tests would say
I ended up in the ER, and from there the OR and the headaches went away after

It’s hard for me to process somethings that is part of me sharing my story
It’s hard to imagine if my life would’ve taken a different direction
It’s harder to explain because I have had my trials
It’s tougher for me to find my words, and sometimes that can be okay
