If you listened for a minute/would you understand my point of view/would you use your words to whittle me away/would you chop me down/so that you could see over me/so that you could make yourself feel bigger/when the forest around you was barren/
If you tried for a minute/would you walk in my shoes for a mile or two/when the ways became divergent/what path would you choose to take/what path would you try to cling to/the wider path to the left/or the harder one to the right/the one that was given to me/
We don’t always get to choose/the path this life takes us/the twists and turns, hills and valleys/are different for everyone/but sometimes we need a companion/so that we don’t have to walk alone/
If you listen/would you hear me crying out for help/searching for answers/or would your voice get in the way/or could you try to understand that I have been through the ringer/and my life is different than I ever thought it was ever going to be/
