When you see red flags, you sometimes try to ignore them

I knew there was something amiss, like a ship lost at sea
I didn’t pay attention, and paid the price in the end
Red flags are there to help you if you take time to heed them
The things you think you wanted, you may have been protected if you listened
Love is a powerful thing, but it doesn’t have to be blind
There were times, when the flags were flying and I was too far from shore to see
Red flags, yellow flags, beige flags all the colors of the rainbow
Crying myself to sleep because I didn’t see the obstacles beneath the surface
Some people will try to tell me, that I should’ve known better
There is some truth, but it was a learning experience for me to grow stronger
