Drowning

I can’t swim Ashley Kutcher

I jumped into the water thinking that I’d have a partner
I launched myself in head first, hoping for the best
I didn’t want to show you my biggest fear of water was gulping it in
Drowning trying to keep my head above the surface

I saw you from the shore enjoying the water and all it had to offer
I wanted to join you but my nerves overwhelmed me and paralyzed me
I took a chance by jumping into the great unknown
I struggled to come out and meet you, but we made it together

You told me I’d be okay, you wouldn’t let anything happen
You gently held my waist, when my legs were getting tired
You tried to bring me closer to where you were, but the water was getting rough
I was tired by the time I reached you, I had no more enegy

You told me you would hold me
You told me you could never see me drowning,
Then something happened and you let go
I was swimming on my own, turns out I never needed you in the first place
