In his hand

From the screams of the little ones, to the cries of the teachers telling their students to duck
From the chaos that ensued when the gunman entered the building
The whole community was shaken, the whole world was left searching for answers
Trying to understand reasons, and longing to bring some clarity to the murky situation

In my Savior’s hand, was a nail on that day
In my Savior’s hands rest the hope of the world
In my Savior’s hand the victims and those affected are held
In my Savior’s plan there will be a time for grieving

We don’t know what to call this tragic event, some may call it senseless
We don’t know what our next steps are to stop something like this from happening again
We need comfort from the pain, that rings in everybody’s ears
We need mercy for the road ahead, and grace to extend to the responsible party

Trying to comprehend the devastation of the loss of innocent children, trying to put the pieces back together
The puzzle will always be left unfinished for the 27 people who left this world that day
Praying for each other, is just what needs to happen
We need to put God back in the center of this nation, the one who was there for the creation of the world

There is no words to tell the sorrow that we feel, the pain evident on our faces
Innocence was lost, kids having to deal with something much bigger than themselves
In a couple of seconds a world turned upside down and shaken
Fear is understood, but it’s not the end

Written in remembrance of the children who lost their lives on 12/14/2012 at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown CT.
