My shackles

Like a prisoner to my own demise
Like a convict being led to execution
Like a lost soul trying to find it’s way
This was my life before the transformation

I confessed my sins to my Savior
I asked for forgiveness for my wrongs
I stood before my judge waiting for my sentence
He told me I was free and showed me a picture of the cross

I traded my shackles for redemption
I exchanged a broken heart for healing by the blood
I gave up a life of sin
The joy of my king welcomed me in

You broke me free from the grasp of death
You set my heart ablaze with your praise
You redirected my wayward life
You are my reward my king forever
