Written because 17 years ago today our country was attacked
Our days were just beginning, on a Tuesday morning
The sky was blue and it was supposed to be like any other warm September day
I was at school and was watching the news
I saw the second plane hit the second tower
I didn’t know what happened
I heard people running and chaos was everywhere
I didn’t know what the fire was from until later
It was after, that the news was getting clearer
We had been attacked and the flames were from the planes
The first tower, then the second tower collapsed while smelling of jet fuel
I was trying to understand, then I heard about another plane that had crashed somewhere in Pennsylvania
As the information was gathered it was clear that the other plane had eyes for the white house
So many people crying, trying to comprehend what would lead someone to hijack a plane and run it into a landmark
There have been conversations, lots of movies made, and many theories offered
Oh Lord Jesus come quickly and take us home
Lord we need you now more than ever
You offer us peace in chaos
You offer us love instead of hate
In your hands your grace is enough for us
In your hands is the future of our country
