Written at a time when I was thinking about how much I enjoy it when artists break away from what is normal in Christian music.
The sea is raging and I can see the light house in the distance
The sea is crashing into this boat that is my life
The ocean is swirling, and the salt is burning my eyes
The ocean is a beautiful place, even when it is angry
Bring the storm so that I may grow stronger
Bring the storm so that I may trust you more
Bring the rain so that things can start to grow
Bring the rain so that I may see you in my storm and put my hope in you
The storm is big, but my God is bigger
The storm is loud, but my God may I hear your gentle whisper
The storm tries to sink my ship, but I know in my heart it is safe
The storm of lies I try not to listen, but they sometimes overwhelm me
Help me to trust you to bring me through the storm
Help me to remember you will bring me through the pain
Help me to remember that you want us to draw near to you
Help me to trust that you want what’s best for me
