I tried my best to love you the way you wanted
I tried my hardest to comfort your heart when we were together
Thinking nothing could come between us
Thinking that we were meant to be forever
Sometimes that dream turns to a nightmare
When the story has a happy ending that’s easiest to hear
A story written from the trenches I offer you my view
Two humans who grew apart
There was no rhyme or reason/no predicting the future/it can sneak up on you like a ghost/you look back and it’s gone/other times it’s hard to let go/when we learn to hurt/the road is never easy/when you’re crying/looking for something to ease your heart’s unrest/
I had my share of hardships/I’ve had my versions of love/I have tried my best/but in the end it looks like I failed/but really I did not/because love is a two way street/it takes more than one side to make a team/didn’t think I was a lone until I didn’t have you by my side/
